Why is Dr. Squatch soap better than body wash or shower gel?

Updated 6 months ago by Squatcher Watcher

Most body washes feel more gentle because they contain emollients; these are the components of body washes that moisturize your skin and serve as replacements for the drying agents used by commercial bar soaps.

But those same emollients contain chemicals like sodium lauryl sulfate, PEGs, and parabens. The reality is that emollients re-moisturize your skin by first pulling out the existing moisture from beneath your skin, which can be damaging in the long-term!

Our natural, cold-processed bar soap hydrates and cleanses the skin without use of harsh chemicals or synthetic skin softeners like those found in body washes. We use natural exfoliants like oatmeal and sand; these exfoliants keep you moisturized and help to gently remove dirt from the surface of your skin!

We also use natural emollients like kaolin clay and shea butter; these ingredients help you maintain all of the moisture produced by your skin, instead of using chemicals that “re-moisturize” your skin and strip it of the natural oils that help produce that moisture in the first place!
